Majo Prieto Pedregal ACR

Senior Conservator-Restorer

I completed a Conservation MA at Polytechnic University of Valencia in 1996 and was awarded the Rome Prize, which enabled me to do a specialisation year focusing on panel paintings at the Istituto Superiore per la Conservazione ed il Restauro (ISCR) in Rome. I have been working in the field of conservation ever since.

I joined Simon Gillespie Studio in January 2015. Prior to that, I worked for several private studios and public institutions in both Italy and in Spain, including the Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia, La Luz de las Imagenes Foundation and the Martinez-Guerricabeitia Collection of Contemporary Art. I also spent two years teaching Paintings Conservation at the High School of Conservation in Asturias (ESAPA).

I’m proud to be a member of the Council of the BAPCR (British Association of Paintings Conservator-Restorers)

The part of my job I enjoy most is the process of making the decisions on how best to approach and resolve the wide range of conservation challenges we see on a daily basis here in the studio.

My dogs are my other love apart from conservation!
