Justyna Kedziora
Conservator
I am a painting conservator specialising in contemporary art, blending a love of art, craftsmanship, and science. In 2024, I joined the wonderful team at Simon Gillespie Studio, after working at Modern Art Conservation in New York. My earlier experience includes a position at the National Museum in Kraków and an internship at the Hamilton Kerr Institute (HKI) at the University of Cambridge.
I hold an MA in Paintings Conservation (2020) and an MFA in Painting (2016) from the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, as well as an MSc in Chemistry (2014) from the Jagiellonian University. During my studies, I was an exchange student at the University of Antwerp and completed a graduate internship at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
With a background in chemistry, I have a strong interest in advanced cleaning methods and technical research. I enjoy sharing my expertise, which led to a series of workshops for the Polish conservation community. My current focus, however, is on the conservation of modern and contemporary paintings, a field that continually presents new challenges. From tear mending and meticulous retouching to XRF spectral analysis, I am passionate about the blend of scientific rigor and aesthetic sensitivity essential to art conservation.
Beyond visual arts, my great joy is music, from drone landscapes and ethnic psychedelia to obscure post-punk.
