On arrival at the studio, one of the stretcher members was missing, rotted away; the canvas had also been damaged by rot. There is a large amount of mould growing on the canvas. The tear is visible.

After treatment, the colours are bright and vibrant. The tear has been repaired with areas of lost paint filled, textured to recreate the original texture and precisely retouched to reintegrate into the surrounding area. The picture has been put ont…

After treatment, the colours are bright and vibrant. The tear has been repaired with areas of lost paint filled, textured to recreate the original texture and precisely retouched to reintegrate into the surrounding area. The picture has been put onto a new stretcher and is now safe and ready to hang.

After treatment. The canvas has been lined with a transparent lining so that the artist’s original inscriptions on the reverse of the canvas can still be seen. A new stretcher has been provided. The edges of the tear have been joined together and it…
